When the volunteers removed the overgrowth of weeds, shrubs and trees, they discovered that many graves, crosses and monuments had been damaged, and many had deteriorated over the years. Some of these we were able to restore ourselves, for example, straightening sunken curb-stones, and some fallen headstones we were able to re-erect and make safe. Eventually, we were introduced to Graham Swain and his team, who has helped us enormously by using his knowledge and experience and specialist equipment to do other repairs and restorations, for which we have been very grateful.
Our volunteer builder, Bob, has now given us some of his time using his skills to repair some of the broken crosses and table graves.
