Martha Harriet Barker was known as ‘Pat’. She was born in Eccleshill in 1854 to Samuel and Minerva Williamson and married Matthew George Barker on the 9th October 1880. Matthew George was known as George and was born in Apperley Bridge in 1859 to George and Sarah Barker.
At the time of their marriage, George was a labourer working for a stone merchant. He changed jobs not long afterwards and managed to secure a job working for the water company in Dunford Bridge, Thurlston, as an inspector of reservoirs. Pat and George spent the rest of their married life living in the same area until Pat's passing in 1934 when she was brought back to Eccleshill to be buried in Chapel Street Cemetery.
Their son Herman married Emma Jane nee Revell in 1894 and worked for the same water company as George. Herman and Emma had three sons; one died in infancy, Eric Montague Dudley Barker was born in 1895 and Daryle Dunford Barker was born in 1896. They returned to Bradford in the early 1900's and eventually to Eccleshill. Emma Jane passed away in 1929 aged 59.
George went to live in Bramley not long after Pat had passed away and remained there until he passed away in 1949 at the age of 90.
Pat is buried with her daughter-in-law Emma Jane Barker.
