Marking the grave of Bertha Morris is an unusual circular headstone, with a simple inscription – ‘Bertha Morris 1900-1915’.
Bertha was born in Idle in 1900 to James and Pricilla Morris. She had two older brothers – James Arthur and Alfred Henry. The family had just moved to Eccleshill and were living only a short distance away from the cemetery in Chapel Walk when Bertha passed away from ‘consumption of the bowels (TB)’. Her mother and her brothers are buried in the same grave.
