Founded on 15th June 1653 to provide...four of the most godly poor persons, such as shall live comfortable to the ways of God according to the rules of the gospel, two in the parish of Tiverton, and two of the parish of Washfield.....the revenue of the premises should equally and proportionably distributed among them by the trustees...
Today the charity continues to maintain the four almshouses, now flats, located in Tiverton to those on low incomes and in housing need. Any surplus income can be used to provide one-off payments to those in need who find no statutory help available.
The almshouses are fully let and applications for these should not be made directly to the charity.
Applications for grants can only be considered by the trustees for applicants living in the parish of Tiverton or Washfield. It is not possible to support requests for further or higher education.
For grant applications please email Blagdon1653@mail.com.
