We are a not-for-profit group promoting traditional and modern rug making - hooky, proddy, braiding, locker-hook, punch hook, peg loom, punch needle etc. We also promote other fibre crafts such as spinning, felting, dyeing, weaving, and knitting.
We meet at Bowburn Community Centre on Wednesdays from 10.00am to 13.00. See calendar for dates. We are also having to meet in Wetherspoons on Mondays 10.00 to12.00 while we look for more appropriate premises in the centre of Durham.
The Group exhibits and demonstrates at public events, schools and community venues on invitation.
Formerly known as Durham Clayport Matters, the group changed its name to Durham Rug Makers in 2014 to reflect the wider interests of the members.
