🐿️ Seasonal Challenge: The Great Autumn Seed Hunt & Wind Whisper Walk!

Monday 12 October 2026

  • When: All next week (Self-guided – visit anytime!)
  • Where: Across our community Open Spaces
October is flying by, and nature is working hard to prepare for winter! This week, our wellness challenge is all about slowing down, listening, and looking a little closer at the ground beneath our feet.
Stepping into our green spaces this week is the perfect excuse to bundle up in a cosy scarf, meet up with friends or family, and give your brain a refreshing break in the fresh air.

🕵️‍♂️ Your Next Gen-Nature Mission:
Can your group or family track down these three signs of nature’s autumn rhythm?
  1. Nature’s Helicopters & Treasure: Look on the paths and grass. Can you find any spinning sycamore "helicopters," shiny brown horse chestnuts (conkers), or bumpy oak acorns?
  2. The Wind Whispers: Find a spot near a group of trees, stand perfectly still for 60 seconds with your eyes closed, and just listen. Can you hear the autumn wind whistling through the branches and moving the crisp leaves?
  3. The Winter Bird Welcome: Many birds are arriving in the UK from colder countries right now. Look up into the hedgerows or sky—can you spot any busy groups of birds looking for autumn berries?
