Our June's Wedding
Our June's Wedding was a piece that toured village halls and rural venues in Surrey including Guildford, Leatherhead, Runnymede, Charlwood, Byfleet and Wonersh.
‘Our June’s Wedding’ was a warm, gentle, funny and very different type of play which cleverly transformed it’s audience of strangers into a group of family and friends, all of them guests at June’s wedding. The poignant storytelling from incredibly likeable characters weaves a beautiful tale. The play exhibits vivacious, cheeky humour… with a little bit of magic, time travel and cake thrown in! The play is suitable for all ages with touches for all generations to get involved with and enjoy providing fun for the whole family.
‘Our June’s Wedding’ began life as a piece of theatre commissioned with the aim to bring smaller rural communities together and to bring rural touring theatre to peoples doorstep. The first pilot show resulted in an incredible response from audiences… In 2015 Arts Partnership Surrey commissioned Theatre Exchange to tour the piece in Surrey. Given that the audience was heavily involved in the performance the play was hugely versatile; like a wedding what happens can vary with every guest!
This project was orginally funded by Arts Council England lottery funds, Farnham Maltings and Arts Partnership Surrey – an alliance of 9 Surrey local authorities.
