Keepsakes
Keepsakes used artists to ‘animate’ memory boxes in Day Care Centres across Surrey. The project made use of memory boxes which were created within museum settings and they enabled older people to contribute to new boxes. The boxes were filled with objects which stimulates the senses and evoke memories and associations of childhood, growing up and young adulthood. These memory boxes provided a jumping off point for a range of creative activity including storytelling and reminiscence; performance and dance and craft. The project was as a catalyst to train staff and volunteers in reminiscence skills and to raise awareness of using art in a day care setting.
