Brief
Learning to Fly is a poetic response from communities across Surrey to the collected archive of materials gathered from across the county relating to Surrey in the Great War: A County Remembers. The programme is led by poet Talia Randall.
We now want to bring the archive to life through sound and are looking for a sound artist to create an installation that combines the poetic materials created so far with found sounds and archive gathered from across the county relating to Surrey Heritage’s World War 1 commemorative project Surrey in the Great War: A County Remembers.
The outcome will be an immersive artwork for visitors to Brooklands Museum as part of the Surrey Arts' No Sound Ever Dies project, which takes place at the museum on Saturday 14 July 2018.
We are open to the various ways in which a sound installation might be presented, however applicants need to bear in mind the following requirements:
- The sound piece will be experienced by a large number of visitors to the No Sound Ever Dies festival / performance at Brooklands Museum in July 2018, which will take place both inside and outdoors. (See below for more details)
- The piece must be able to travel to other locations around the county and should therefore be relatively easy to transport and install.
- Consideration should be given as to the level of maintenance and supervision required once the sound piece is installed.
Timeline
- Expressions of interest are invited to reach us by: Sunday 5 November 2017
- Notification for selection for interview by 17 November
- Interviews will take place on 22 November
