The Environment Centre
The Environment Centre (tEC) is an independent charity, established in 1993, which aims to reduce carbon emissions, encourage sustainability, improve air quality and help people keep warm and well in their homes. They do this by providing tailored advice, delivering outreach and training, and managing practical projects. They support others to take action, working with individuals, community groups, charities, schools, businesses and local government. They have worked on a diverse range of local, national and European projects from fuel poverty, air quality and waste minimisation to best practice in behaviour change, sustainable construction and peak energy demand reduction. They are the trusted local centre for information and support for home energy efficiency, affordable warmth and sustainable living.

Sustainable Energy Research Group
The Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG) is part of the Energy and Climate Change Research Division within the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton. SERG is aligned with the University Strategic Research Group on Energy, a multidisciplinary group of researchers who focus on topics ranging from energy consumption, bioenergy, and high-voltage transmission. They aim to undertake fundamental and applied research related to the efficient and sustainable use of grid and off-grid energy. SERG runs and attends various regional, national and international dissemination conferences and events to promote renewable energy research, its various projects and encourage collaboration. This group also operates a consultancy service that covers a range of research areas.

Southampton City Council Energy Team
The Energy Team manage the corporate energy and water contracts for the council. This covers all corporate sites and schools who have opted in, validating bills and ensuring service areas are recharged correctly. The team run the Corporate Assets Decarbonisation Scheme, delivering phases of energy efficiency and renewables works with the aim of reaching net zero by 2030. The team also work closely with the wider Property service area, supporting energy efficiency work in the council's housing stock.

Renewable energy generation
We are fortunate to live on the sunny south coast. Although subsidies for solar electricity panels have ended, some companies will pay for the electricity you export, and it can still be worth fitting them if you have a good south-facing roof and/or will be at home during the day to use the free electricity. There are still subsidies or grants available from the government for solar water heating and renewable heating systems such as heat pumps. Transition Southampton members include people who have installed these and are willing to share their experiences, good and bad. Warm Places in winter
Southampton’s libraries, family hubs and housing with care schemes are extending a warm welcome to residents who are concerned about the cost of heating their homes. People are welcome to call into locations across the city to receive a warm welcome.
