Current Affairs Group

There is just so much in the news every day these days, and so many different interpretations of what’s behind the headlines. The Current Affairs Group provides an opportunity for members to review and discuss issues of current global, national and local importance through analysis and discussion of recent news reports and opinion pieces. 

Members are encouraged to use their own experience, or apply skills they have learnt elsewhere, to jointly analyse news reports and opinion pieces from different perspectives. There is no expectation that members will reach a consensus, but it is hoped that members will appreciate how current issues can be considered using a wide range of different approaches. 

If you read a newspaper or a news magazine or follow the news programmes on the radio or television, this could be the group for you.
