Solar System (KS3)

Our solar system is in a galaxy called the Milky Way. The name comes from the milky appearance of the thousands and thousands of stars to the night sky. Nebula is a cloud of dust and gas. Our galaxy is one of many star systems scattered throughout the universe. Each galaxy contains millions of stars together with clouds of dust and gases (known as nebulas). The nearest large galaxy is called Andromeda, two million light years away - the light we see come from two million years ago, before there were humans on Earth.

Earth is one of at least 9 planets orbiting around the Sun. Earth is third from the Sun and is the only one capableof supporting life as we know it.
