Open-Air Worship at Wembury Point
On this day, an open-air church service was held at the Wembury Point Holiday Camp, drawing an excellent congregation of holidaymakers. Visitors from neighbouring camps joined locals on the cliffs overlooking Wembury Bay. The Rev. C. ff. Young, vicar of Wembury, conducted the short morning service, which proved popular in its striking coastal setting.
The initiative was so well received that further cliff-top services were planned, with Rev. E. B. Bridger invited to lead the next gathering.
Faith under the open sky added a new dimension to worship at Wembury. For a moment, the rhythms of camp holidays and seaside leisure blended with the timeless cadence of the Church, making the cliffs both a pulpit and a sanctuary.
