News from the allotments June 2024

Hello fellow gardeners!  Here’s our news update!

Plant and Cake sale.

Saturday 11th May saw our annual Plant and cake sale which was highly successful. The Sun shone for us and we had a good crowd who enjoyed some delicious homemade produce (massive thanks to all who contributed! ) and some quality cheap plants. All profits, several hundred pounds, will help maintain and improve the Allotments.  Thanks are also due to everyone who contributed plants and the event was superbly organised by our Plot Steward, Jan Jefferis. Thanks to all our supporters!

It's growing season.

At last, the sun seems to have decided to shine upon us and the amount of rain seems to be lessening. Many allotments are thriving at present with new young plants in place, often netted to protect their growth. Next time you visit the allotments, take a moment to admire the evident dedication, effort, and pride that the gardeners are pouring into their plots.

Excess produce

Just inside the gate that connects the allotments to the recreation ground is our excess produce box. When plot holders have grown more than they or their family/friends can use they will often place it in this box as a gift to the public. Check it out from time to time, you never know what you might find!
