Presidents Day - Cliff Geary

What a day. The weather was fine and 30 members took part in  a Spoon Drive organised by Daphne Birch and John Jeacock.

Those taking part included many of the new members of the club so it was great that they all got the opportunity to meet the rest of the members.

We had a Spider to begin the afternoon with the proceeds going to the presidents chosen charity.

John Hancock and Jenny Peach were joint winners of the Spoon Drive.

Our Open Day on Saturday 12th May was a huge success thanks to the sustained advertising of the event in Winslow and the surrounding villages and personal invitation cards.

We entertained 33 visitors many of whom expressed genuine interest in joining the club and we expect to see many of them coming to our roll up sessions either on Tuesday between 6pm and 8pm or on Thursday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.

This year delicious refreshments donated by members or friends of the club seemed to create a very welcoming atmosphere confirmed by more than one of our visitors.

Maybe the lessons learned will stand us in good stead for future years.

Our 2018 season started with the Green Opening on Saturday 28th April when we all sat around in the clubhouse drinking tea and eating cake and watching the rain pour down.

We had to cancel our first 2 matches due to the sodden state of the green but will now be starting our season with our home match against Bicester on 5th May on a lovely Saturday afternoon. The afternoon turned out beautiful and we had a good win to start the season by 63 to 51

Will those members who have not yet paid their annual subscription please send a cheque to the treasurer or pay direct into the club's bank account.

Our Open day is on the 12th May and we hope to attract a lot of potential new members and we have adverts in many local town/parish magzines and have invitation cards as shown below available for members to distribute to all possible interested parties.

Jim Lewis Trophy was contested over 2 legs on the 11th and 25th August. On the first leg at Bradwell Winslow came through

winning by 7 shots. In the return leg at Winslow at the halfway stage were leading by 5 shots but drew away in the second half to win 95-59! A magnificent effort by all involved and congratulations for running out overall winners by 43 shots.
