The church aims to keep the chapel as a resource for the community. However, it needs some serious work to maintain and update it.

We have called the project

Upton's Renovation Challenge.

The initials U.R.C. reflect the national church that we are part of- the United Reformed Church.

That it is Upton's renovation challenge shows that this as a community resource and a community project and needs us all to be involved.

The first phase of our building project is complete. The rendering has been made sound, the roof and guttering repaired, and windows fixed. The chapel is looking cared for!  The next phase will be the installation of an indoor disabled toilet. We urgently require replacement of the old fire escape from the kitchen, and the kitchen itself is also scheduled for modernising.

The SW Synod of the URC were very generous in contributing to the Phase 1 renovation. Phase 2 ask much more of ourselves and the community to help with realising our vision for the chapel. The "Upton's Renovation Challenge" aims to help raise funds to achieve this. Please do speak to members if you feel that you can contribute in any way. There is an exhibition of Plans in the Meeting room of the chapel.
