The Thornborough Sports and Social Club (TSSC) is an active group within the heart of the village with the aim to run as many sporting and social events as possible for villagers of all ages. It was founded in 1960.
As an informal club of volunteers the committee depend on the ideas and hard work of our members and are always keen for new members to join to bring new ideas, to provide support and have a good time running events for others. Whether you are young or older, have children or not, this club offers a means of meeting new and established villagers by being an active participant in many village events.
Events that we have recently organised and funded are: the Senior Citizens Spring Party, the annual Under 5’s Party, May Bank Holiday Thornborough-10 Road Race & Fun Run, Sports Day, Casino nights, Bonfire Night and the annual Children’s Pantomime.
The committee occasionally meets for an evening in the Two Brewers to organise and review events, so about 6 to 8 times a year. This is a good opportunity to meet this active group of people, other than in the events where the organisers may not have much time to chat!
To join the Sports & Social Club all you have to do is to turn up at a committee meeting, you will be made very welcome. Alternatively contact the chairman or any committee member.
If you don’t feel that you can join the committee, but are willing to help at certain events, please contact us. Many villagers do this and we are very grateful for their help at big events such as the Fun Run, Bonfire Night and Sports Day.
Join us it's good fun!
