Who We Are

Debbie Salman - Chair

Debbie is a chartered accountant who has been Treasurer for Together in Barnet since the charity was incoporated. She is a partner in an accountancy practice and volunteered at the shelter for many years through her church St Mary at Finchley, before becoming a trustee.  Financial skills are valuable to organisations large and small, and Debbie is delighted to lend her skills for a charitable purpose alongside the commercial work she does in her day job.

Liz Cormack  - Secretary & Trustee (Fundraising)

Liz has a background in Local Government Policy and Administration. However, for the last twenty years she has worked in Primary Education.  As a senior leader in her school, Liz has direct insight into the impact of homelessness on the life chances of many children.  She was motivated to become involved with Together in Barnet through a series of chance encounters and conversations with another Trustee.  She decided it was time to ‘stop talking and do something useful’. She is now on the Board of Trustees and part of the fundraising team.

Elliott Karstadt - Treasurer & Trustee

Elliott is a student rabbi at Leo Baeck College. He lives in High Barnet, near where he grew up. For four years he was coordinator of the Night Shelter at Finchley Progressive Synagogue before becoming a trustee of Together in Barnet in April 2016, and Treasurer in July 2017. Elliott sees tikkun olam (Hebrew for 'repairing the world') as an integral part of Judaism, and this is a key reason for his involvement with the Night Shelter. As well as continuing to contribute to Finchley Progressive by greeting clients and sleeping over at the synagogue, Elliott is responsible for Together in Barnet's Facebook page and the website.

 Holly Kal-Weiss - Trustee (Communications / Fundraising)

Holly has been involved with Together in Barnet since 2011 when she joined as a venue coordinator for Finchley Reform Synagogue. She later became part of the Standing Committee which paved the way for Together in Barnet to become a charity in 2014. Holly serves as the secretary and is involved in fundraising. Holly is a dyslexia specialist teacher, helping children with literacy difficulties. In her spare time she is involved with refugee support, first in Calais and now in the UK. She lives in Barnet with her husband, daughters and two Romanian rescue dogs, Florence and Bruin.
