Some of our longest serving members & volunteers will know the name Pauline Cook very well indeed.
Those of you who don't know the name Pauline Cook may not be aware that one of the reasons we come together to socialise with our friends & have fun every week is because of this very special person.
Pauline & her husband Len began volunteering at Lowestoft Thursday Club in 1964 but back then it was known at The Gateway Club. Between the 2 of them & a few very dedicated volunteers, they were able to provide a much needed service for people in & around Lowestoft for many, many years, ensuring that the club remained open & available to those who came every week.
A few years ago, Pauline & Len decided that after several decades at the helm, it was time for a well earned rest & they stepped down from their roles at Thursday Club, leaving it in the very capable hands of their friends who had stood beside them over the years through thick and thin.
Both Pauline & Len have remained a huge part of the Lowestoft Thursday Club family, attending special events & parties, always being a welcome sight when ever in attendance.
However, it is with great sadness that we have been informed by her family, that sadly, Pauline Cook passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday 16th March 2019.
It is no exaggeration to say we simply wouldn't be where we are today without this wonderful woman & her husband. Words can not explain our thanks & gratitude for everything Pauline has done over the years, she will be greatly missed by all of us at club, our thoughts & prayers go out to her, to Len and her family.
