To raise funds for upkeep of the Church of St Mary & St Margaret and The Smythe Hall, the Stow Maries Fund Raising Group held a Fun Quiz Evening on Friday 16th November.

This ever-popular event was brillantly hosted by Peter Marshall (who also compiled the questions), with assistance from his wife Kym and her fellow score-keeper, Rachael Green.

11 teams battled through a number of topical and general knowledge rounds to claim bragging rights. However, as usual, most were really there for the excellent banter, food and drink which make this event so keenly anticipated each year.

Of course the evening wouldn't have gone so well without the efforts of all the hardworking volunteers who helped to set up The Smythe Hall (and clear up afterwards) and the ladies (sexist, but true!) who cooked in advance and then served the sausages and baked potatoes during the interval. Entrance money collectors and raffle ticket sellers are also deserving of thanks.

Last, but not least, many thanks to all attendees who contributed the splendid sum of £671.43 towards keeping Stow Maries' church and hall in good repair - for the benefit of current and future generations of residents and visitors.
