Virtual Disability Hub
Calling all Disabled People of Spelthorne and surrounding areas who like Fun, Glamour and Accessibility!
My name is Karen Holdsworth-Cannon and I am the new Project Coordinator looking into the feasibility of setting up a new Disability Register and Virtual Disability Hub for Surrey and North-East Hampshire bringing together the best of Surrey Coalition (SCDP) and Surrey Independent Living Council (SILC) and other partners.
The Virtual Disability Hub’s aim is to build a Virtual Community where everyone can bring a cuppa, biscuits and join others at a place where everyone knows your name and you belong. At the Hub you will be able to access Information, Services Available, Activities going on, Fun and a Sense of Community and Belonging!
The project will be Co-designed and Co-produced with YOU. Through May and June I will be meeting and chatting with people to collect your ideas and bring together volunteers to set up a formal Working Group.
What would you like to do – Tell me your ideas and suggestions?
- Joining that Choir to sing your heart out?
- Doing Foil Fencing to make it to the Para-Olympics in 2024?
- Doing a free online course in Computer Coding or Medieval History?
- Or just a good old chat with a cuppa tea and a slice of cake (my personal favourite!)
What would you have liked to have known how to have deal with at the beginning of the pandemic?
- How do I prepare?
- What are the top 10 things that I need to do?
- What sort of items do I need in my store cupboard?
The Virtual Disability Hub will hopefully come with a range of benefits for members and increase access to resources, such as free online learning, virtual theatre and music, scam awareness, crafts, reduced prices into venues.
If you would like to be part of the Working Group and help Co-produce and Co-design to Virtual Disability Hub or if you have any immediate suggestions, please text or telephone 07534 521878 or email, Karen.Holdsworth-Cannon@surreycoalition.org.uk
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks Karen
