What is it all about?
The London Refugee and Migrant Civil Society Data Project is a six month pilot project, funded by the Greater London Authority to work with refugee and migrant organisations to:
1. Help improve collection and use of data to help design and delivery of services
2. Help understand how data sources are used to support fundraising and policy activities for organisations
The project arose from discussions between the Greater London Authority’s Civil Society Team and organisations serving on MRAP (Mayor of London’s Migrant and Refugee Advisory Panel), after concerns about the use of data for Home-Office enforcement purposes.
Whilst ‘firewalls’ and GDPR are key concerns, there was also an understanding that refugee and migrant organisations are also disadvantaged by a lack of capacity in comparison to the rest of civil society in their use and application of data.
