Coach Trip to Sulgrave Manor and Canon's Ashby

Saturday 17 May 2014

Saturday Coach Trip

We'll be visiting two places today.

Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor and Georgian manor house, surrounded by four acres of gardens and estate, that was built by George Washington’s English ancestors.  A group tour with refreshments is included.  Discover how Civil War, financial ruin and a shipwreck led to the Washington family seeking a new life in a new land.

Canons Ashby is a tranquil Elizabethan manor house set in beautiful 18th-century gardens and owned by the National Trust. The house features grand rooms, stunning tapestries and Jacobean plasterwork, contrasting with the domestic detail of the servants' quarters. Stroll in the historic parkland and catch glimpses of early medieval landscapes, or wander through the priory church. This property boasts the usual National Trust tea rooms and shop.
