Welcome to Moggerhanger Parish Council Website

The parish of Moggerhanger is located approximately 50 miles north of London (nearest major road A1) and west of Sandy on the A603 towards the County town of Bedford.

The Parish Council is the first tier of local government and comprises of a number of Councillors and a Parish Clerk. Parish Councillors give of their time voluntarily to serve the local community and perform the duties expected of a Parish Councillor. The aims are threefold:

(i) representing the local community effectively;

(ii) delivering services to meet local needs; and

(iii) striving to improve the quality of life for our parishioners and the parish they live in.

MOGGERHANGER PARISH COUNCIL

Update June 2020

Meetings of Moggerhanger Parish Council have been postponed until members of the public are able to attend, and a new date will be set for the Annual General Meeting which will be published on this website and on notice boards around the village.

The council continues to operate as usual Alison Cross was co-opted onto the council but unfortunately due to the Lock Down she has not been able to attend her first meeting , but I ensure that she and the other councilors receive all emails relating to Parish Council business. We receive many emails from Central Beds to keep the council informed about their services including highways and social services.

David Smith who is no longer a councilor kindly continues to look after the Pavilion, Play area and the playing field. Grass cutting of the verges is carried out monthly as usual and the playing field is also being cut regularly. Unfortunately, a tree branch of fell over the bus shelter but I was able to get it cut down very early the next morning. The monthly invoices were considered and payment was agreed by the members. Cheques were drawn up and the two councilor signatories signed them, they were then placed in addressed envelopes and posted by Mr. Aldridge.

At present we do not know what is going to happen about the usual meeting for July, but if you have any questions please contact me, as this maybe the third meeting when councilors and members of the public will not be allowed to meet.

I am still locked down at home, but you can contact me by email and the telephone.

I look forward like everyone else to life returning to normal

My best wishes

Regards,

Daphne Payne (Clerk to the Parish Council)
