Lancashire Workers' Advice Centre has been set up by trade union members to offer free employment rights advice and help with claiming social security benefits. We are an unfunded voluntary organisation. We cannot offer representation but we can give basic advice and information leaflets and try to point you to sources of expert support where possible. You don't have to be a union member to receive help but we would recommend that you consider joining a union. If you are having difficulties at work, grievance or disciplinary hearings, been dismissed, made redundant, unpaid wages, harassment, victimisation, etc, we can help you understand your rights and help you fight your case. We can also help with claims for Universal Credit, Statutory Sick Pay, Personal Independence Payment, Maternity Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, etc. Initial advice is given by telephone and email. Telephone and email contacts are checked daily so if you leave a message we will reply as soon as possible. Lancashire Workers Advice Centre is sponsored by the Lancashire Association of Trades Union Councils (LATUC) which is part of the national Trades Union Congress. We are made up of volunteer trade union members with experience in advising and representing working people. We have a commitment to fight for employees' rights and to support those who need social security help. We campaign for trade union values – solidarity, compassion, equality. We are unpaid and all our time is given free.
