As part of the work to improve Lampton Pond, we have begun the process of restoring the pond to encourage biodiversity, promote protection and encourage community ownership.
Following eDNA tests which took place in May 2025, we discovered there were no protected species within the pond, however we discovered plenty of invertebrates.
We have worked with Habitats and Heritage and the Parks team to set up a pond restoration day where we:
- Removed atleast 50% of vegetation
- Removed litter from pond
- Pond dipped
- Discovered some amazing species such as the Common Frog and Smooth Newt.

To continue the great work we will be developing a maintenance schedule which volunteers can get involved with and support us in protecting the Irie pond.
