Dr Ron Beadle on “Virtue and Meaningful Work”

Wednesday 21 November 2012
19:00 to 21:00

Dr Ron Beadle leads a discussion on the philosophical arguments required to understand the lacunae in empirical research which has found that although we can diagnose the components of meaningful work, not all workers find jobs with such characteristics meaningful whilst others craft 'meaning' within routine repetitive work.

An experienced management educator, Dr Ron Beadle has published in and edited for academic journals on both sides of the Atlantic. He has also witten for the London-based Social Market Foundation think tank. He is on the Editorial Board of 'Philosophy of Management' and is Reader in Organization and Business Ethics at Northumbria University. During the 1990s he specialised in Reward Management and since 2001 he has worked on the application of moral philosophy in the workplace.

As a politician in North East England, he has been a Gateshead Councillor since 1996 holding numerous positions in the Liberal Democrats and for the Council.
