At 19:00 Roger Jennings will introduce his paper Time, Timekeeping and History.
The paper examines, inter alia: our conventional system for keeping time; entropy and 'time's arrow'; relativity and spacetime; objects and their worldlines; the concept of time and its relationship to change; the coherence of Presentism, Growing Block and Block Universe models of reality; the possibility of time travel; attitudes towards time and their expression in literature, art and religion; the nature of history and imagined 'progress'.
