“Pre-emptive justice – a thought experiment”
Thursday 05 August 2010
19:00 to 20:00
A short thought experiment to explore whether we should lock up “criminals” before they commit crimes, rather than afterwards? Could we prevent crime in this way, or is predicting human behaviour just too difficult? Would it be right to try?
As we are considering an ethical question, you might find it useful background to (re-)read Roger Jenning's introduction to ethics at http://www.e-voice.org.uk/kingstonphilosophycafe/files/view/philosophy-cafe-briefings/Moral_Certainty_or_Moral_Relativism.pdf.
Come along to try out this new venue for Kingston Philosophy Cafe - and come along early to sample the menu.
