August 6: “It might cost the Earth – but why should we care?”

Thursday 06 August 2009
18:00 to 19:25

An informal discussion, in the Rose Culture Cafe, of some of the philsophical and ethical issues raised by the environment: What constitutes good evidence of climate change and other environmental problems? Is it ‘speciesist’ to care more about humanity than about nature? Why should we care about faraway people or future generations? Would it matter if human beings died out? More questions here and some background reading on climate change here.

This follows on from the talk at July's meeting, but don't worry if you weren't there - anyone can join in.
