Thursday 02 April 2009
18:00 to 19:30
“Trolleyology, space travel, justice and equality” will be an informal discussion led by Marilyn Mason, revisiting some of the political-philosophical themes KPC discussed in February. There will be a couple of thought-experiments on justice and equality borrowed from Julian Baggini’s The Pig that Wants to be Eaten (you can read a bit of the book or buy it here), along with a brief introduction to the concept of thought-experiments, or “trolleyology” as it has been called (e g, by Nigel Warburton and David Edmunds in an article on "Philosophy's Great Experiment in Prospect, March 09.
