Our service

Our bereavement counselling is available to anyone living, working or studying in Kingston or registered with a Kingston GP and is provided by a team of around 40 trained volunteer counsellors supported by experienced supervisors.

Counselling can be arranged during the day or in the evening according to your availability. For counselling sessions, we use our dedicated counselling rooms in our premises in Canbury Park Road, close to Kingston town centre and Kingston train and bus stations.

Anyone living, working or studying in Kingston upon Thames is welcome to contact us to discuss bereavement counselling. If your GP is a Kingston GP and they send us a written referral.

As we’re sure you are aware, times were very hard for charities before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

At Kingston Bereavement Service we have successfully carried on offering our service during the current crisis, by offering telephone and video counselling

Unfortunately with the difficulties faced by all those in the voluntary sector, we are finding it increasingly difficult to secure funding and we have had to take the difficult decision to begin charging for our services in the New Year 2021; we will confirm the date nearer the time.

Charging will be on a sliding scale as detailed below but it is important to note that we will never turn anyone away for purely financial reasons.

Income below £9999 - £5 per session

Income   £10k - £15k - £15 per session

               £15k - £24k - £25 per session

               £25k - £34k - £40 per session

               £35k - £44k - £50 per session

               £45k - £54k - £60 per session

               £55k - £64k - £65 per session

               £65k and above - £70 per session

All assessments will be charged at a rate of £25.

Please note this only applies to the adult service.

We offer services to both adults and children:

We also support and offer training and consultancy for health, social and education professionals and local employers to help them develop their understanding of the bereavement process and its impact.
