Members Monthly Meetings

We have nine monthly meetings with high quality speakers who are often leading experts in their field.  The meetings are very informal and friendly with a raffle and refreshments following the talk

Three Horticultural Shows

Horticultural Shows are held in April, July and September.  We attract a very high standard of exhibits from experienced growers but are also always keen to encourage less experienced members.

Affiliated Societies

We are affiliated to a number of Societies which are a rich source of information.

The Royal Horticultural Society

The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK’s leading gardening charity. Their vision is to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.

The Rose Society UK

Affiliateship of the Rose Society UK allows us to award the Rose Society UK’s Bronze Medal for excellence in rose showing.

The National Dahlia Society

The National Dahlia Society was formed in 1881 and for over a century has given unbroken service to gardeners interested in this wonderful flower. They are now a registered charity which seeks to promote the dahlia by means of exhibitions (shows), trials and conferences. Affiliation of this Society allows the Society to enter inter Society classes at National Shows, and to award National Dahlia Society Medals at their own shows.

The National Chrysanthemum Society

The National Chrysanthemum Society was founded in 1846 at Stoke Newington to promote the cultivation of the chrysanthemum and provide information to its members.

The National Sweet Pea Society

The National Sweet Pea Society is the premier charity dedicated to these wonderful flowers.  You will find lots about their history, achievements, events, hints and inspiration for growing Sweet Peas and Lathyrus Species here.

The National Vegetable Society

The National Vegetable Society formed in 1961, is now a registered charity with the principal aim of promoting and encouraging the growing of vegetables by providing expert help and advice.  Their membership spans from the novice to seasoned growers anxious to share their knowledge and experience.  They supply a medal each year which we present at our Autumn Show.  Two KEHS members are entitled to attend each of the four meetings held during the yaer by the Bucks District Association of NVS.  Individuals can join the NVS for £20, couples for £22.  Please contact Brian Butler for more information.

Aylesbury Garden Society

The Society was established in 1880 and is always ready and willing to help with your gardening queries.  Membership also offer the opportunity to purchase a range of horticultural products through the Thurston Trading Store of the Aylesbury Garden Society.  On production of your current KEHS membership card and payment of about £2.00 (or less if aged 60+) you can become an Affiliated Member of the Aylesbury Garden Society in your own right for a year.

Seed and Plant Discounts

Members of the society are able to order seeds and other gardening items at substantial discounts of upto 45% from Thompson and Morgan and Suttons. The two schemes work slightly differently. If you are new to the society, or have not used the scheme before please speak to Judy Sturley, Seed Order Co-ordinator or ask any Committee Member for more information.  Catalogues are available at the November and December meetings.
