Commitment for Life

Exists to encourage all United Reformed and Local Ecumenical Partnership churches to take action, pray and give for people across the world. By linking with campaigns, partners and projects through Christian Aid and the World Development Movement, you can make a difference to the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

Our chosen partner is Jamaica and support is given through a yearly collection and after Sunday service coffee and tea money.

Jamaica’s image as a popular holiday destination masks huge inequalities. The country has been crippled by a huge debt burden with international financial institutions. Many people lack access to health clinics and schools. Unemployment is widespread and 14.5 per cent of the population live below the poverty line. HIV infection rates are high.

CfL is 20 years old this year. New mini leaflet and magazine to be ordered and circulated. Special celebratory service available.

For more information please visit the Commitment for Life web site or the Christian Aid CfL web site.

In 2011 as part of our mission of our church, we collected £394.88 for CfL. Please see the letter of thanks from CfL on the church notice board in the coffee room.
