Update on 'the big old tree'

At the last FoRP meeting concerns were raised regarding the 'big old tree' that stood over the pond and the area we work in. We have previously asked for this tree be topped.

Recently CPM John and Head Ranger Danny Squires kindly took time out to visit the pond area and check on the old tree with Jack.

Good advice from Danny "don't work in there in high winds" as you can see from the pictures good advice indeed, and the Pond Project Team were quite right to be concerned.

I understand that the tree will be cut back further later on this year. Just to confirm Danny has also agreed to cut up the big log that is hampering progress.

Also spotted in the park this week... residents have moved into the bat roost box, installed by FoRP back in February 2011. You can see from the underside of the box signs of activity.

We have looked at the box with binoculars and it does look like we have Bats (hopefully) in the box. Keep your eyes pealed and get in touch if you spot our flying friends.
