Chairman Jack Jennings welcomed members to the April meeting and thanked Sutton United Football Club for their hospitality and use of their facilities.
Minutes of the Meeting held on 16th March 2011:
Peter Bell proposed and Jean Duncan seconded acceptance of the Minutes of that meeting.
Annie Hepburn reported that all invoices received thus far had been submitted to the constituency office. Payment had been received with a shortfall that had been acknowledged. The current bank balance stood at £4,157.39 but payments now due would reduce this amount. 25 letters inviting sponsorship for the group had been sent out and results were now awaited.
Dry Pond:Rupert Johnson from the Community Environmental Trust would be invited to the next meeting to address members upon the possibilities for a professional restoration of the pond. His initial report and visit had outlined clearly the detail of the project. A fee was due in this respect. Allowing for diary commitments it is hoped the CPM can attend the next meeting. Chairman reported that a visit to the Rookery Park site for evaluation should be made around 2nd May.
Site Facility for Older Children: Ongoing.
Bronze Statues: This very successful project was now complete.
Press Coverage: An article concerning park safety had been printed which was unrepresentative of Rectory Park. Police agreed that the report was flawed and a further article is promised to give a true picture of a very safe and welcoming environment.
Contractors Funding: Two smaller litterbins are installed with a further one awaited. It was agreed after discussion that perhaps two more should be installed adjacent to SUFC.
Additional Benches & Picnic Tables:
Goodwin builders will undertake construction and installation of the benches and picnic tables with a tentative date of late May for completion.
Any Other Business
The website is being gradually updated and improved by Rachel Chew with assistance from Eric Harding.
After discussion, it was agreed that the meadow project required a meeting with the CPM to determine the best time for planting and assisting the creation of the meadow.
The meeting closed at 8.30pm.
Date of Next Meeting: 7pm Wednesday 25th May 2011 at SUFC. (Subject to confirmation)
