In memorium

Kathleen Josephine (Jose) Hill

The early Spring sunshine enabled the installation of a memorial seat in the Churchyard of Holy Trinity Church, Bradwell juxta Coggeshall on Sunday 13th March.  This seat commemorates a well known figure in the community, Jose Hill, who was Chairman of the Parish Council for more than 10 years.  Ably supported and assisted by her husband, Bernard, in his role as the Parish Council Responsible Finance Officer, Jose put a huge amount of dedication and energy into her role, always putting the interests of the Parish at the top of her "to do" list.  Many residents will have memories of Jose and Bernard attending every day of the Public Enquiry in Chelmsford a few years ago that was the fore-runner of the planning applications now being considered and debated for the Integrated Waste Management Facility on the edge of Bradwell at Rivenhall.

Jose was proud of Bradwell, and we were proud to have had her dedication to the village.

The dedication on the seat reads:  In loving memory of Kathleen Josephine Hill who was Chairman of Bradwell Parish Council 1996 to 2007.

The Parish Council is grateful for Peter Tyrie’s very kind donation of the seat and for facilitating the engraving of the dedication.

The Parish Council also thanks Councillors Craig Evans and Glenn Lockey who not only gave up their Sunday morning to install the seat, but with Bernard Hill and the Parochial Church Council agreed the position for the seat to ensure maximum benefit for those who visit the churchyard for private contemplation.
