Party dates are on a Saturday and we have two slots per day available, morning and afternoon slot. The morning slot runs from 9.15am - 12.45pm with trains running between 10.00am - 12.00pm and the afternoon slot runs from 1.15pm - 4.45pm with trains running between 2.00pm - 4.00pm giving you 45 minutes before and after to set up and tidy up.
Depending upon locomotive availability we typically run two trains, one on our raised level track and one on the ground level track.
Clubhouse and Catering
We Do Not provide catering. Inside our clubhouse we have a kitchen area with hot water urn for tea and coffee making, a small microwave, fridge and small freezer, cutlery and crockery. Of course you may prefer to bring your own disposables.
We have tables and chairs inside the clubhouse which can be used or if you wish you can have a picnic on the grass if the weather is fine. We do have some bench seating outside as well.
You can bring in outside caterers. People have used local pizza providers, ice cream vans etc. as this is popular and again makes life a lot easier for you as the organiser.
Use of the Grounds
There is an extensive grass area central to the tracks which can be used however bouncy castles are Not permitted and ball games are only allowed when no trains are running.
Dates
For operational reasons, party days are limited to a few Saturdays from April to October. The dates are decided towards the end of the previous year. For availability please use the contact form below.
Cost & Booking
The cost for 2024 is £250. A non-refundable deposit of £50 is payable on booking, with the balance to be paid two weeks before the event. To enquire about available dates please contact our party administrator using the contact form at the bottom of the page. If we have an available date that suits you, we will send you booking documents by email along with our BACS details. We hold the date open for 7 days to allow time to pay the deposit.
Numbers
Parties are limited to a number of 30 children and we ask that you have a sufficient number of adults to keep an eye on everyone. Smaller children will need accompanying by an adult on the trains.
Safety
The Club takes safety on its miniature railways very seriously. Passengers are asked to sit astride the carriages facing forwards and always remain seated; keep their feet on the carriage foot boards and not drag them along the ground; not to lean out whilst taking photographs; not to lean over to try and pick passing flowers. Non-riding guests are asked not to ‘high-five’ passing trains (this can encourage children to lean out in response). Birmingham SME reserves the right to refuse to carry any passenger who repeatedly fails to follow our safety guidance whilst riding the trains.
Car Parking
We have ample parking onsite. Please note there is a 5mph limit onsite and take care when crossing the ground level track for running trains. Please also take extra care driving past the toilets and clubhouse.
Rubbish
Guests are required to take their rubbish away as the club has no collection or removal facility.
