Interfaith trip to Leicester

On a sunny Saturday morning 35 people boarded a coach in Aylesbury bound for an Interfaith trip to Leicester. This was the first such excursion organised by Learning Together Living in Harmony, Aylesbury's Interfaith group. The first stop was to visit a Hindu Mandir, or temple, where the wall and ceiling paintings were admired. Lunch was at the St Philip's Centre, followed by an interesting presentation on interfaith work in Leicester, now designated Britain's most multi-cultural city. The final stop was a Progressive Jewish Synagogue, where visitors were fascinated to see the Hebrew scrolls, painstakingly written by hand on parchment.

Spring Festival of Light held in Amersham

Amersham’s Quaker Meeting House held an evening Spring Festival of Light and Sound in aid of Chiltern Youth Projects, which is supported by Churches Together in Amersham.

Geoff Hammond, warden of Aylesbury Quaker Meeting, provided a laser light display in the meadow, filling the trees with stars.

Inside, in a room lit only with ultra-violet light, people sat around a campfire watching the hand-painted images of wildlife that hung from the walls, interspersed with music  provided by the local Quaker folk group, Element 15.

The visitors included a large group of young people from Chiltern Youth Projects’ Saturday Youth Group, who enjoyed a sausage sizzle and hot spiced apple juice.

It was well attended by representatives of Churches Together Groups and other guests from across the County. The preacher was Mgr. The Bucks Forum of Faiths becomes Faithweavers

After some months of discussion and deliberation, the Bucks Forum of Faiths decided to change direction and become Faithweavers.

With the aid of a grant from Buckinghamshire County Council, the main aim is to produce a directory of faith organisations and groups in Buckinghamshire and bordering counties.

The emphasis will be on the recognition of the services and activities that faiths provide in the wider community, weaving faith and community into the fabric of society.
