CALL OUT - Poetry Commission
Commission fee:
£225 fee plus travel expenses
Age range:
18 to 30
We are looking for a young poet to write a one-minute poem for a promotional film for The Learning to Fly project, aiming to advertise creative writing workshops for community groups that will be happening across the county.
These workshops will be led by poet Talia Randall and will be inspired by the extensive Surrey in the Great War project archive. The poem we are commissioning needs to relate to this archive in some way. There are hundreds of fascinating, tragic and hilarious stories in this archive and we would like a poet who can respond to this by writing a thoughtful and engaging short poem.
After writing the poem you will be needed for half a days filming in Surrey in mid-July (your travel will be paid for).
How to apply:
Please send the following to taliarandall@gmail.com and laura.ratling@surreycc.gov.uk by June 21st:
- A video of one of your poems
- A short statement about how you would approach the commission - no more than 250 words. (e.g. what interests you about the project, why you are the right person for the job).
The successful applicant will be notified by Wednesday 28th of June and will then have 10-14 days to complete the commission.
