North Lincolnshire now has its own member of the United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP). Leah Boote, from Barnetby, has recently represented the views of young people in an historic day at the House of Commons. Young people were allowed to occupy the chamber and debate issues relevant to young people for the first time. Supported by the Youth Service, Leah was able to participate in the event which has sparked comment from around the world. During 2007 and 2008 the Great Youth Debate was held at Pitwood House, and was an important opportunity for young people to have a say on a number of issues and have a fun day out.

The Youth Service has seen the introduction of locality forums in the 5 localities. This will allow the voice of young people in these localities to find an easier way to be heard. Contact the locality Youth workers for more details of how you can get involved.

The Youth Service is now considering requests for grants from voluntary youth organisations registered with North Lincolnshire Council Youth Service. If you would like a copy of the grants form, please contact the youth service HQ on youthservice@northlincs.gov.uk or ring 01724 297214
