Farm Watch Scheme
A farm watch scheme is currently up and running in the rural areas. The scheme was initially set up about 18months ago but we are trying to get more and more people involved. We have sent letters out to all farms to see if they would like to join the scheme. The idea is that emails are sent out regularly to the members on farm watch when crimes have been occurring, details of suspicious vehicles in the area and also crime prevention advice. The scheme is like a neighbourhood watch scheme but is specifically for farm properties. We have currently got a funding application in for signage to be put outside the farms that are part of the scheme along with a crime prevention pack for each property. Hopefully we will get the money as the initiative would help to reduce crime in the rural areas. The scheme currently has over 400 members.
If anybody wants to join the scheme or would like further information please contact David Reid at Broughton Police Station on 01772 863390 or by email david.reid@lancashire.pnn.police.uk
