Robert Chambers’ book is a source of inspiration for facilitators, trainers and others who organises and manages workshops in a participative fashion. The author is an established expert in participatory methods and he draws upon his wide experience in the book.

The book is well structured, with light hearted illustrations and clear diagrams., Chambers writes in a very engaging way. The book covers different activities to kick off, end and energize meetings with. It also covers topics like the effects of different seating arrangements, how to get participants to analyse and feedback, as well as a very useful section of how to deal with unequal power relationships within meetings and patterns of dominance that may emerge.

The book is a great source of inspiration for those in charge of running participatory meetings, especially when equality of voice is important.
