Summary/Overview:
The Every Action Counts Initiative has been set up by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and is run by a consortium of organisations led by the Community Development Foundation. The free training courses are delivered by the Federation for Community Development Learning. Every Action Counts provides three types of training:
- Community Workers Training Scheme These courses aim to ‘enhance the skills, knowledge and understanding of community development workers in supporting community groups and communities to integrate sustainable development into their activities’. There are also downloadable resource packs and training materials to be downloaded for free from the Every Action Counts website.
- Courses for trainers These courses are intended for experienced practitioners who deliver community development training. Courses cover how to use taster sessions to introduce sustainable development themes or explore local policies and strategies
- Community Champion Training Community Champions are individual volunteers who commit to encouraging local voluntary and community groups to take action in climate change and sustainable development. Community Champions are invited to attend Accredited Training Events across the UK which provides basic training in how to use Every Action Counts tools and resources to help Community Groups to produce their Action Plans.
