Association for Citizenship Teaching

Last updated:

Summary/Overview:

The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) is the professional subject association for those involved in citizenship education. The organisation’s main goal is “the furtherance of mutual support, knowledge and good practice, skills and resources for the teaching and learning of Citizenship in schools and colleges.” ACT produces a termly journal called Teaching Citizenship, a monthly e-news and a website.

The website is well designed and easy to navigate. It features an up to date events diary, and a good library of case studies and resources to help developing citizenship education and involvement within schools, although this has no search facility and must be scrolled through to find the required information. There is also a well-categorised list of links to useful external organisations.
