Summary/Overview:
Neighbourhood Know-How is a website developed by the Young Foundation and Local Level. It is a wiki (a website which allows anyone to edit and change the site). The site aims to be a ‘collaborative resource’ for ‘anyone who wants to get involved in neighbourhood activity where they live, or who is already active in their community and wants to find practical information about getting things done.’
The site includes stories, links and information about how residents, groups and activists can tackle neighbourhood issues.
The fact that anyone can add content to the site means that over time it can gather together lots of useful material and information. Currently the site features useful pages on the powers and regulations that exist at the neighbourhood level, contact information for important organisations in the field, success stories from neighbourhoods around the UK and information about how to apply for funding.
On the downside, some pages are almost empty because no-one has added to them whereas others have been filled with spam. As the number of users increases over time these problems will hopefully go away.
