Neighbourhood Fix-It

Summary/Overview:

Neighbourhood Fix-it is a site set up to help people report, view, or discuss local problems.

After entering a postcode or location, users are presented with a map of the local area. They can view problems already reported in that area, or report ones of their own simply by clicking on the map at the location of the problem.

Details of reported problems are passed on to the Local Council responsible for the area where the problem is located. Making the problems publicly visible (including the option to upload a photo) puts pressure on local councils to act.

The site might be useful for local campaigns to demonstrate the number and frequency of problems in their area. The downside of the site is that there is no way to search for place names, there is no ability to network with others concerned about  the problems in a neighbourhood and that there are few users reporting problems as of yet.
