Here is how you go about writing a user review
- To be able to write a user review you must be a member of the Together We Can site. Becoming a member is simple, follow this link and provide your email address, a user name and password.
- Once you are a member of the site you can add a star rating and review to any resource by clicking on 'Add your rating here'. If you are new to the site you can find help with searching for resources in our quick guide to finding what you're looking for.
- Once you have found a resource that you are familiar with and can share your experience of with other users just click on 'Add your rating here' and you will be given the opportunity to add a rating of one to five stars, five stars being the highest rating you can give. You are also asked to write a comment so that you can share with other users why you have given that particular score.
- Once you have submitted your rating other users will not be able to read it until it has been approved by a website administrator. This doesn't normally take very long providing that your comment does not go against the website rules. You are able to edit your rating at any point but if you do this after it has been approved by the administrator then it will need to be approved again.
- If you experience any difficulties you can contact us and we will do our best to help.
Independent Reviews
You will see that a large number of resources already have ratings. These have been done by the organisation Involve as part of the ongoing Audit of Community Empowerent Resources which they have been commissioned to carry out on our behalf. It may be useful to consider criteria they use to create these ratings when you are creating a review yourself. The criteria are
1 Star
This resource does not achieve its intended purpose. It is less useful than other resources in its field and there are few reasons to recommend it to others. Resources with multiple or severe faults, such as grave factual errors should be included in this category.
2 Stars
This resource does not quite achieve its intended purpose but it does add value. Despite its failure to meet its objectives it should still have redeeming features that make it worthwhile recommending it to others in certain cases. For example, it may be a good resource that is marred by a single deficiency, such as bad presentation, factual errors or inaccessible language.
3 Stars
This resource manages to achieve its intended purpose. Three stars is an appropriate rating for resource that does what it sets out to do. The resource should be useful to its intended audience and should add value through its content. It may have some deficiencies but there should not be any major ones.
4 Stars
A four star resource should achieve and exceed its intended purpose and should have very few (if any) flaws. There should be no major reason not to recommend the resource to others for a four star rated resource. The resource is likely to have special qualities that set it apart from other resources in its field.
5 Stars
Five stars should be reserved for the most useful resources. These resources should obviously achieve their stated purpose with ease, but the resource should also have qualities that warrant a wider recommendation, beyond its initial target users. The five star rating should be reserved for the absolute top resources and should be a clear example of best practice.
