We're just getting ready for the sale of the tickets for our Family History Weekend 2010. Genealogist Gareth Watkins will be attending on Friday 19 September to help those of you stuck with your family history. Tickets cost £3 for library members and £4 for non-members and go on sale at 12.30pm tomorrow (21 August). Demand is likely to be high and tickets can only be bought in person from the Central Library in Scunthorpe so make sure you're here early.
Don't worry if you miss out on a ticket to see Gareth - you can still come along anytime over the Family History Weekend (10 & 11 September) and Library staff and enthusiasts will be on hand to show you what resources are available and give advice.
I have three what's on's for you over the next few weeks.
Firstly there is the weekly Pokemon Battle Club that is being run in the Central Library in Scunthorpe by one of our library members. The club runs every Saturday from 12.30 until 4pm. Simply bring along your Nintendo DS and Pokemon games and join in battle with other fans.
Secondly the same library member is also running a Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game session in the library on a Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Again you can come along and do battle with other fans.
If Family History is more your thing our annual Family History weekend takes place on the 10th and 11th September at the Central Library. As usual library staff and fellow enthusiasts will be on hand to demonstrate resources, give advice and point you in the right direction.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
