Alderman Bowen
roots of change…
The Philosophy in Alderman Bowen and associated projects Mary Rose, and Women’s centre
“Everyone that uses the centre is a rich competent person with resources accessible in themselves for the community”
- We deliver a Person Centered Service – our service is built around the assessed needs of individuals and a Person centered review approach is used to listen to individual goals and what is working and not working for individuals.
- Outcome focused: - service standards are defined in terms of what they give the people who use the service and how they can improve their lives.
- Empowering structures: - we establish support arrangements that promote independence, choice, control, a sense of well being and social inclusion.
- Local support: - we continue to encourage local community members, businesses, and voluntary sectors to support and address the needs of people with learning disabilities, so that they can access everyday services like everyone else through a volunteering opportunities and awareness events.
- Health: - Many people with a learning disability have greater health needs than the rest of us. In particular they are more likely to experience mental health illnesses, chronic health problems, epilepsy, physical and sensory disabilities to ensure we effectively meet everyone’s health needs well we work very closely with health workers who guide us, we achieve this through the ‘Single Assess Point document’ to make a referral.
